May 2008 London Royal Blue Book - January 1913 This CD contains images of the original GRO indexes to army, marine, regimental, consular and Ionian Islands BMDs. As such, they are likely to prove of particular value to those with ancestors who served in the armed forces. READ FULL REVIEW... The Directory of Directors 1936 The 57th edition of The Directory of Directors was published in 1936 by Thomas Skinner & Co. It lists the directors of principal companies whose securities were traded on UK stock markets, giving the name, address and the companies under their directorship. Some 31,000 directors are recorded - many of whom were directors of companies that are still in existence today. READ FULL REVIEW... October 2007 Whellan's Manchester and Salford 1853 Directory While this is described as a directory of Manchester and Salford, it actually covers an area akin to the post-1974 county of Greater Manchester. Besides the two cities, there are also sections on such major towns as Stockport, Oldham, Rochdale, Bury, Bolton and Wigan, as well as many villages and hamlets. READ FULL REVIEW... September 2007 Kelly's Directory of Dorsetshire 1923 - Article Sept '07 Kelly's Directory of Dorsetshire 1923 contains valuable listings for parishes, private residents, trades and professions. A large colour map of the county is included, allowing you to refer to places mentioned in the directory. It also has a black and white reproduction of a county map dating from 1610 for comparison. READ FULL REVIEW... August 2007 This directory comprises more than 1,300 pages of information about the theatre and those who worked in it. The section containing biographies of actors, actresses, critics and writers dominates, with the entry for Charles Spencer (Charlie) Chaplin being typical. This tells us that he was born in London on 16th April 1889, gives details of his parents, his marriage and his career, and notes his addresses in Los Angeles. READ FULL REVIEW... London 1926 Post Office Directory A two CD set comprising 2,769 pages of information about the city and districts in its immediate vicinity such as Shepherd's Bush and Tooting. This is the ideal CD for those tracing a family history with theatrical connections. On opening the main menu, I could immediately see that this comprehensive work includes the family trees of many theatrical families, along with biographies, obituaries, and wills.
