This CD is a valuable resource for genealogists looking for ancestors in London as no census data for this era will be released for many years yet. Handily, the PDF can be searched by name, but you can't copy information to paste into your own family history records.

This PDF file jumps right into its index with no frontispiece or title page. The index is alphabetical and lists places (terraces, courts) and individual buildings as well as streets. Page numbers in the PDF are almost, but not quite, the same as those in the original document.

In the second part of the street index, the streets are listed with district and district number. Within a street's listing, house numbers run in numerical order, as well as mentioning intersections with other streets. The name of the occupant of that house number is also given, together with a description of their trade. Where no trade or profession is given, the occupant is probably a private resident. Flats are described as residential chambers but sadly their residents are not names. Commercial organisations, such as the Prudential Assurance Co or Princess of Wales Hotel are also identified by name.
