This transcription of the parish registers of Rochester was originally privately published in 1892. It includes a description of the registers, and a full transcription of all of the christenings, marriages and burials at the cathedral. This new index contains well over a thousand different surnames, making it an extremely useful resource for anyone with Rochester roots.

Transcriptions of the monumental inscriptions within the cathedral and its churchyard are also included. The headstones will be of particular interest to genealogists, as many will now be lost. These inscriptions often feature individuals from outside of the area, making this volume of relevance to more than those with Medway ancestry. For example, the index lists a Mrs Elizabeth Bond, widow of Thomas Bond, late of Lambeth, who died on the 18th February 1800, aged 74.
