Another extremely useful publication from S&N British Data Archive is this digital copy of George W Marshall's 1903 Genealogist's Guide, which provides an index to records contained in publications such as Burke's Peerage and Visitations and Extinct Baronetcies and those of the Harleian Society as well as publications which specifically dealt with the landed gentry of particular parts of the British Isles.

Information has also been drawn from Whitmore's Handbook of American Genealogy for those English families who settled in America, and Moule's Bibliotheca Heraldica, which covers foreign genealogies.

Marshall's guide contains 893 pages covering established families from the Abaroughs or Abarrows of Somerset and Hampshire to the Zulesteins of Suffolk and provides details of the publications in which more information on these families can be found.
