Who's Who in the Theatre 1922

Who's Who in the Theatre 1922

This impressive volume, originally published in 1922 and now digitally reproduced on CD-ROM, is an excellent research aid for all areas of theatrical life.

It contains concise biographies of hundreds of actors, actresses, vocalists, dramatic authors, composers, lyricists, managers and critics, from Britain, American and the Continent. Among the famous people of the day mentions are Charlie Chaplin, Harry Lauder, Marie Lloyd and renowned playwright Sir James Barrie.

One chapter outlines the family trees of more than 70 hereditary theatrical families, one of the oldest and most prolific being the Kembles (family of Sarah Siddons). There are obituaries arranged alphabetically and a list of proved wills of well-known theatrical people. A Roll of Honour for the 1914-1918 War is included.

The book also features details of the West End and other London Theatres, their managers, seating plans and stage sizes, plus notable productions (including long runs and command performances). There is a historical calendar of theatrical performances plus a synopsis of playbills in 1921 (July to December). Lists of theatres and managers in New York and Paris are also included. The CD is bookmarked, searchable and may be printed.
