Various census transcripts have recently been made available online on S&N’s ‘The Genealogist’ website: the 1841 Census for Essex, Lancashire, London, Middlesex and Yorkshire; the 1841 and 1851 Censuses for Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Hertfordshire and Surrey. S&N says the 1841 and 1851 transcripts now cover 70 per cent of the English population, including Lancashire, London and Yorkshire. London now has transcripts covering the 1841, 1851, 1861, 1871, 1891 and 1901 Censuses, with linked images of the original pages for 1861 and 1871. You can access the databases on either a subscription or a pay-per-view basis.
