Indexes of Bristol Wills
This CD-ROM, Bristol Wills 1572-1792 and Great Orphan Book Wills 1379-1674, provides indexes to these sets of documents.
One index covers over 200 years of wills held at the Bristol Probate Registry, 1572-1792. The information given may include the surname and forename of the deceased and the year the will was proved. Bristol Administrations are also included from 1770-1792 which also note the name of the administrator.
The second index is of some very early wills contained in the Great Orphan Books of Bristol: these are the wills of those who left their young children as orphans in the care of the Bristol City authorities. Details in the index may comprise the name of the deceased, any aliases, occupation, where from, date of will, and reference to where it may be found.
Both indexes are in alphabetical order, bookmarked, fully searchable and printable.
