55 million marriage transcripts online
"TheGenealogist.co.uk have now made a search in the marriage indexes a lot quicker and simpler, enabling you to search specifically among 55 million marriage records. No longer do you have to wade through four possible pages per year, browsing by surname range hoping to locate your ancestor, and then following this up by a search for the spouse.
TheGenealogist.co.uk's transcription of the marriage indexes for England and Wales 1930-2005 means that the search results will include specific matches. Furthermore, the search results include the partner's surname, and a link through to their listing in the index. From here you can select to view the original image. At this point, matching the volume and page numbers will help you ensure you have the correct entry.
To search the transcripts go to www.thegenealogist.co.uk. From the Birth, Marriage and Death Indexes section, select 'BMD Marriages - New' from the drop-down menu. Then start your search of the marriage transcripts. You may simply enter a surname or provide fuller details.
The developments at TheGenealogist.co.uk make welcome additions to the family history tools available for searching the key records, making it much easier to home in on the historic records we need to further our research. Subscribe at TheGenealogist.co.uk to access the records."

Non-conformist records NOW COMPLETE at BMDRegisters.co.uk
The digitisation of the official non-conformist and non-parochial registers geld by the National Archives has now been completed at BMD Registers (www.bmdregisters.co.uk), and is also available as part of a subcription to TheGenealogist.co.uk.
The site provides various unpublished registries, giving you birth, baptism, marriage, death and burial records taken from non parish sources. In association with the National Archives, this site offers a wealth of information, including records from Methodists, Wesleyans, Baptists, Independents, Protestant Dissenters, Congregationalist, Presbyterians, Unitarians and Quakers (Society of Friends). Usually proving to be the only record of the event, these previously unpublished records are a fantastic resource for the family historian.
