There are thousands of men listed within the 1,600 pages, with additional information such as bookmarks for officers who were killed or retired, pensions, medals awarded, a list of vessels and even descriptions of regulations and uniforms. Though it will simply be a starting point for many, this CD is still a superb resource overflowing with useful information. READ FULL REVIEW

New records from BMDRegisters.co.uk - Foreign Registers & Returns

BMD RegistersBMD Registers (www.bmdregisters.co.uk) have added over 38,000 overseas marriage records to their existing collection of overseas civil registration records, which were previously only available on microfilm at The National Archives. These records cover British subjects who married abroad, including records of British soldiers in France, Holland and Flanders around the time of the First World War. Many of these had been Prisoners of War. Also included are register from British churches abroad.

About BMD Registers: The site which provides various unpublished registries, giving you birth, baptism, marriage, death and burial records taken from non parish sources. In association with the National Archives, this site offers a wealth of information, including records from Methodists, Wesleyans, Baptists, Independents, Protestant Dissenters, Congregationalist, Presbyterians, Unitarians and Quakers (Society of Friends). Usually proving to be the only record of the event, these previously unpublished records are a fantastic resource for the family historian.

Complete Census Transcripts for England & Wales from TheGenealogist.co.uk

The GenealogistThe Genealogist (www.thegenealogist.co.uk) has now completed their census transcripts for 1841-1901 (including 1881) with images, allowing you to search with a surname, forename, age, occupation, birth county, and relation to head of house. They also have a unique range of search tools, including a Family Forename search which allows you to search the records with the forenames of a family, which is very useful if there is a mis-spelt surname. They also include all the non-conformist records on BMD Registers which can be very useful. There are reviews of the website in the Online Subscriptions category.
