Search fees for www.bmdindex.co.uk

Subsequent to my piece on www.bmdindex.co.uk in the September issue (Connect, page 48), a major change to charging for data has occurred. There are now two options. The first is an all-inclusive subscription from £4.66 per month and this gives you unlimited access to: the birth, marriage and death indexes (complete from 1837); image viewing; the available census name indexes (now complete for 1851, 1871 and 1891); transcripts; plus parish records, directories, 1873 Owners of Land, and other sources, as they are added to the site.

The second option is as described in the September issue when you pay £5 for 50 units, which are valid for up to three months (an annual subscription is available for £14.95) with one unit being deducted each time a full record or page image is viewed.

Recent developments include the results being presented 10 times faster and the remainder of the household is now searchable from a single census entry.
