The third edition of this popular online compantion has been extensively revised amd updated and contains in excess of 2,000 websites, covering both Northern Ireland and the Republic, which are grouped and indexed by subject, institution and place.

Although the experienced researcher who is skilled at using search engines could probably locate these websites easily, many will find this publication makes the internet a far quicker and more effective tool in their research.

The other issue to consider with any internet guide is that of obsolescence. New websites appear regularly, while older ones move or cease to exist. Having tested a random of 80 of the websites featured, only 2 did not open. Clearly Mr Raymond has done his homework.

Whether a researcher chooses to use a guide of this nature is a matter of personal taste. Some may find it easier to track down websites using GENUKI or Cyndi's List. However, if you prefer to use a book and are seeking Irish forebears, you will find this guide invaluable.
