This new series of publications from S&N are based on the General Register Office's overseas birth, marriage and death records. The indexes to deaths show the rank, service number or rating, and the unit branch of vessel the deceased served on. They are indexed by surname under the different services and the images are bookmarked alphabetically and can be printed out. These GRO indexes aren't available online as sites such as 1837online only cover British BMD events. Unfortunately some of the images are difficult to read even though they have been scanned in greyscale to get the best from the GRO's filmed originals.
