Westminster Poll Book 1841
This book details a poll taken on 30th June 1841 to elect two members to represent the city of Westminster in Parliament. The poll is recorded on a parish by parish basis - St Paul Covent Garden, St Martin in the Fields and so on - and alphabetically by surname within those parishes. Three candidates stood - Messrs Evans, Leader and Rous - and the votes of over 6,500 constituents are recorded. A typical entry is in the format Surname, Forename, Area, with an indication for whom he voted. An abstract of the poll and a summary of the previous contested elections of Westminster conclude an interesting volume.
