Coverage/indexing: Births, Marriages and Deaths: 1837-1983 by surname range, 1984-2003 by individual entry.
Added value feature: The post-1983 data searches offer extra SmartSearch features, which enable you to do several useful things: a) Search births within death dates, b) Search for other children with same parents, c) Search for the full name of a spouse. There is also Surname Distribution Mapping available for various periods at an extra cost and you can revisit previously viewed images within your subscription period for no additional charge.
Cost: £5 for 50 credits (10p each) lasting three months, or £14.95 for 200 (7.5p each) lasting one year. One credit deducted per page image viewed and one for each full reference after 1983. Maps cost 10 or 20 credits each.
Comments: Good value site with cheap, long lasting credits. Free searches on post-1983 material offer almost all the information at no cost and only one unit is deducted to view a full post-1983 entry. The £15 subscription gives you cheaper units than other equivalent subscriptions, you need a £60 subscription at 1837online to match this price per unit. The Surname Mapping is good, but eats up units. The only site to have complete coverage including the 2003 BMD data.
