This CD contains images of the original GRO indexes to army, marine, regimental, consular and Ionian Islands BMDs. As such, they are likeley to prove of particular value to those with ancestors who served in the armed forces. Of course, the indexes will be familiar to regular visitors to the Family Records Centre. While they do vary in their layout and content, they typically show name, regiment, vessel, station, location or consulate along with volume and page number. Particularly poignant are the 'unknown' entries in each year's marine deaths. |
