The Family and Local History Handbook 11
Helpful Handbook
These yearbooks have by now garnered quite a following. This is hardly suprising as they are - as Robert says here in this his introduction - the 'essential companions to research'.
Their simple format is a great part of the appeal: a large directory of contact details for useful goods and services, combined with more than 60 brand new family history articles. The scope of these is wide and they are well chosen, from the specific (case studies, obscure occupations) to the more general (opinion pieces and useful practical advice), with more than 30 pages on both Scottish and Irish research and a fair amount on online research and military history.
Although the handbook's layout seems cramped at times, this never compromises its readability. In fact, it underlines the fact that the book is crammed with content. This isn't a book you will want to pass up.
