Cambridge graduates in Stuart England
Until the early nineteenth century, there were only two universities in England: Oxford and Cambridge. The sons of the well-to-do were usually sent to one or the other. Athenae Cantabrigienses Vol. 3 1609-1611 (S&N £17.45) contains detailed biographies of graduates from Cambridge with details of the works from which the information on individuals dates back in many cases to the 1500s. The CD also contains an index to all three volumes. |
